I Live for fights like this
February 28, 2015 was definitely one of those days!
For this game we just wanted to keep things simple and just have some pure fun! The day was suppose to be rainy and cold but as fate would have it, the weather wasnt really that bad! It was perfect to sling BBs at each other!
There was the usual briefing and the warm up game to get things really moving. Clarity, my Mustang Customs M4, was having some external issues so I let one of my personal techs, Jaden T, work on her as I proceeded to use an Echo1 XCR(that went down) then my King Arms M16 MOE, which I ended up only shooting 15 rounds cause the game ended.
Extraction- Round 1
Well... Do Walmart guns have better performance than VFCs?
The objective was for a squad of 8 to bunker down and hold Fort Crater from an opposing force of 30+ until the extraction vehicle reached the hot zone. But it doesnt end there! The Lone Squad still has to flee the hot zone in the truck, at least until it could cross into the green zone. The road for the truck to take spanned the whole 82nd field which means that life was going to suck until the truck exfiled out.
For the first squad (my squad), rules were a bit harder. we could only respawn once through a medic. After that you were dead. Which proved to become a very steep hill to climb, or so to speak. There was a bit of relief from the two Support gunners that accompanied the vehicle. But would it be enough?
The game started as our Lone Squad hunkered down into Fort Crater. The truck took about 10 minutes to traverse the terrain to get to us. But it sure was fierce fighting until the extraction vehicle reached us. The Gunners were spitting out BBs as the hill above Fort Crater was getting swarmed. We agreed to move to the truck in pairs, in which Rabbit and I volunteered to be the last.
The extraction itself was where it became deadly. Very rapidly, our squad was getting cut down. My rifle even went down, leaving me with Faith, my Elite Force 1911 Tac. Rabbit and I moved towards the truck and tried to take cover behind it as the Op4 circled the Fort. I was shot in the back and I thought I was done for until the only other survivor , Jaden, reached out and revived me for my last life.
After this happened we smacked the side of the truck to signal we had to go. Sadly our squad was decimated and there was only Jaden, Rabbit and I. Even our brave Gunners died at the extraction point. But remember it wasn't over yet, we still had to leave!
The truck started moving forward and we jogged along side it because we could not get in without getting shot on the other side. The hail of BBs followed our truck and I made the call to just sprint to the blue machine and wait for the truck to pull up to us so that we can actually jump in. I dont think Ive ever sprinted so fast in an airsoft game in my life!
We all piled in and layed down in the truck bed. There was no way that we could trade back fire without getting lit up. Luckily I had my Faith so I could actually shoot out if need be. Someone slapped the window to let the driver know we were in. Then he took off, as soon as we left the cover of the blue machine the hail of BBs returned. Thousands of BBs started to ping off the truck, which just confirmed that laying down was a great idea. The drive took 7 minutes or so but it seemed like forever.
A brave Op4 soldier, Stalker, rushed up to the side of the truck bed and shot Rabbit, fortunately keeping my pistol out was a good idea and I laid 3 rounds into him. That was Rabbits first hit so Jaden proceeded to revive him. Another Op4 soldier seemed to be thinking of doing the same thing but I let out a volley of BBs in his direction to dissuade him. Then I executed one of the fastest reloads with a pistol that Ive ever done!
Finally relief was in sight! We screeched to a halt in front of Highlander Tower. We all jumped out as fast as we could, I shot a few rounds at the approaching Op4 as Jaden held the side of of the Tower. Rabbit and I reached the Tower which signaled the conclusion of the game.
I scanned the area and when it dawned on me that the game was over I finally holstered my pistol and set out a sigh of relief. Then I proceeded to scream and shot with joy!
Extraction- Round 2
We changed a few rules to make it a little bit easier for the Lone Squad. The Lone Squad had unlimited respawn in the Fort and the Gunners could respawn every 15 seconds. Then there was Havoc squad, which was a 4 man squad designed to relieve the stuck squad. With these additions I really hoped to see more than 3 make it!
I volunteered for Havoc squad which consisted of me, Das, Hawk and Jaden. I couldnt wait to get some payback! Clarity was good to go as well so maybe this time I could really lay down some fire!
Havoc started with the Truck as the game started. At first we stayed with the truck until I suggested we join the Extracting Squad at Fort Crater. So we cut across the field and joined the survivors. We joined them in repelling the Op4 until we saw the truck, once it was in sight Havoc moved towards the dirt piles to relieve pressure on the Extracting squad. This was an excellent strategy because they were able to load up without having as many issues as we did.
Havoc moved towards the blue machine to rendezvous with the truck. We stayed out of the truckbed and followed from the side. I stayed back to make sure no one was left behind. But by the time I was sure the truck was already pretty far out. I decided to fall back to Fort Crater and proceeded to start a one man war against the Op4. Which, I was faring pretty well. The truck started rolling by and I followed until someone from the truck, despite my friendly calls, shot me. I dramatically fell to the earth and bled out.
I gave my life to ensure the extraction. I later found out a majority of the team made it. But then again it was a lot easier! ;)
Whats your team name?
Now with our team of 6 we pushed South and made contact with 2 squads. Hawk and I decided to pick up a piece of plywood and we used it at one giant riot shield. This is my first time using any sort of mobile cover. If I do it again in the future I need to work out my forearms. The shield saved us from a squad directly in front of us. Jaden took out that squad by himself while I took out one that just happened to ambush the rest of us.
We kept pushing South and cleared the field to HoboTown. Once it was clear our team had now become 15ish or so. Then we pushed West. The riot shield really came in handy here as we took Fort Crater. BBs were slamming into the shield but with Hawks accuracy and my suppressing fire we killed anyone in front of us. Our team was now in the high 20 or low 30 range.
Still had 15 guys or so. Hawk and I lead the Southern push while Das took the Northern. The shield gave our side a distraction and a rally point and continued to do so until we took out the last guy near the fire hydrant. Running a riot shield with Hawk was a real blast and I wouldn't mind doing it again!
Das's Favorite Game-Type
The second game went a little longer because Nate and his evil fancy gun wasn't against us that time. The 2 Rangers had a bit more of a difficult time taking us on, so I started shooting my own team members. It finally snowballed up and we really had one heck of a fight! I was among the last to stay alive and got a few kills until a shotgun killed me...
