Building up the suspense...

This day was a different day than what BAR is really used to. But its days like this that make me proud to be a part of such an awesome team, yet we are not just a team, we are a community. Normally, we start games at 0900 sharp, every Saturday. But we decided to spruce up our exclusive field and make it more battle-ready. So, at 0730 we started improvements on the field. We had quite a few guys show up. A few were not even part of BAR but they still came to help!

The ideas came from Noble and they became a reality by Gunslinger. The rest of us were really free labor. When I say us I mean everyone that wasn't me because I was ummm... supervising... yes thats the word for it. Then we found a puddle of goo. Yes, goo. Not a clue what it was or who put it there but Im going to start blaming aliens. Darn aliens. But jokes aside we really made the field look good. There was a 2-floor bunker that we built, thanks to Noble and his wacky ideas and numerous other smaller structures scattered throughout the map. Overall it was really awesome but guys like me could not wait to get started to actually use these fortifications!

Ascending...

Now that the building and beautifying was done it was really time to play! We started things off with a quick force-on-force game just to get people warmed up. I tripped again... er... I mean did a tactical roll. My M36 was crapping out on me so, I was running around with a pistol. Of course I didnt kill anything.

But then the Try-Outs really started. We had sooooooo many guys come to run try-outs! By far it was the most we have ever seen! It was so big we had to split the group into two! You knew we were really in for a good time! My primary decided to start working but she was being picky with what mags she would work with. So, I spent a lot of time smacking her but I still had fun.

The first 2 games we ran was an objective game where a single player had to touch a blue vehicle and that was game. Now the problem is, the defending team was ready for this and there was always heavy pressure applied. The Try-Out team had to travel a road until fired upon. As soon as someone fired at them they could leave the road and go wherever they wanted to reach the blue objective. The first group, Alpha from now on, had a very aggressive tactic. They just hit the road in mass and tried to take the blue objective as quick as possible. But I was the lead man on the ambush, I waited for a few men to get past me and then came the killzone. I lit up 3 guys personally (I would have got more but Sarge's curvy body absorbed a few of my shots)  and quite  a few others were hit as well. But Alpha sure put up a heck of a fight. But eventually they all started dying out.

Now the 2nd team (Bravo) was up. They took a very interesting route. They sent 2 men to be a distraction. I felt horrible lighting these guys up because I knew that they sacrificed themselves but... that definitely told me these guys were Angel material. Later on Yin-Yang revived them from the goodness of his heart so these guys could actually play. Bravo tried to flank us real hard but eventually they started dying out as well. Unfortunately, they could not complete the objective either.

After some time to reload and refuel we started up the 2nd part of tryouts, which was to defend a position for 30 minutes. Alpha was first of course and they defended that shiny new 2-level bunker we created. The OpFor team had the craziest idea of just creating a wall of fire. Like we all stacked up and walked down the road towards 2-Story and we were guns blazing. The plan was to use the dead bodies as cover as we started dying but apparently I was the only one that did that. But after a long hard fight we took them pretty hard. Noble got some real good knife kills cause he pretended to be dead. Friggin Noble.

Bravo was next up and they did something different. Again. This time they sent out some guys to distract us and they held some positions like crazy. I got killed 3 times by someone I couldnt see, but that was definitely a good game. Neither team was able to hold for 30 minutes but they all fought valiantly.

Flying high...

Noble pulled aside Alpha and Bravo and confirmed who had made it onto the team and who had to work on a few things. Long story short we had a lot of guys join BAR and I was really happy to see that. I want to give a shout out to Bacon cause I stuck with him for awhile and he definitely saved my life once or twice.

There were a few guys who did not make it. This paragraph is for you, although you did not make BAR this time around dont give up. Most of the time, the reason we dont approve in the first try out is because we have never seen you play and that maybe try-outs was the first and only time we have seen you. So keep playing and keep up your rep and you'll get on in no time.

Also some helpful advice, really listen to what the leaders say. Our Noble leader (Ha see what I did there?) had to repeat a few things way too many times. A good player will be able to think on his/her feet and make quick decisions. You cant do that if youre trying to figure out something that wasnt complicated. And a big one, I saw one player not call his hits quite a few times. You know who you are, so make sure you're honest about playing. BAR is all about honesty. So our players need to reflect that.

But all in all it was such a good day. We kept playing games afterwards but some of us were really getting pooped. I had to work so I bugged out early as well. I had such a good time and I cannot wait until we try out our new AO next week! Until then...

Stay Frosty!
